"Papillote, Dominica", a watercolour
by Patricia Mae
Young
I no longer
teach
the second-year optional course on Caribbean poetry, which is now
taught
by Monsieur Delmaire but, since I continue to read and promote
Caribbean
poetry and since there appears to be insufficient attention paid to
Caribbean
poetry on the Web, I have decided to maintain these pages as a modest
resource
centre for scholars and a place for readers of Caribbean poetry to
exchange
ideas. In addition, Derek
Walcott's Collected Poems are on the optional literature
course
of the English Studies Agrégation this year. Though these pages
are naturally open to ideas about the poetry of the Spanish, Dutch,
American
and French-speaking Caribbean, the main focus is on "the
cricket-playing
Caribbean".
