Research
My research focuses on the design, planning, and optimization of production systems and supply chains (forward and reverse logistics). I develop decision support tools for resource optimization in organizations, combining methodologies from Operations Research and Industrial Engineering.
Research Themes
Disassembly Line Balancing & Design
Optimization of disassembly systems under uncertainty, considering stochastic task processing times, hazardous parts handling, and profit-oriented approaches using stochastic programming and conic approximations.
End-of-Life Product Quality Management
Decision tools for disassembly process planning considering product quality states, integrating quality assessment into production operations for circular economy applications.
Production Systems Optimization
Design and planning of assembly/disassembly lines, dynamic line rebalancing, scheduling, and resource allocation in manufacturing environments.
Stochastic & Robust Optimization
Development of optimization methods including Sample Average Approximation (SAA), L-shaped algorithms, Lagrangian relaxation, chance-constrained programming, and second-order conic approximations.
Industry 4.0 & Smart Manufacturing
Predictive maintenance using AI/ML, IoT integration, cyber-physical systems, zero-defect manufacturing, and digital transformation of SMEs.
Model-Based Systems Engineering
AI-integrated frameworks for system design, MBSE for multi-disciplinary optimization (MDAO), and agile lifecycle management for vehicle development.
